MNOC Venues and MapsSand Dunes State ForestSand Dunes is an undeveloped area with highly challenging terrain. The O-map location is east of Co. Rd. 15 and north of 233rd St on the SW and SE section of the DNR forest map. Directions: Take US Hwy 10 North out of the Twin Cities. Four miles west of Elk River, exit right (north) on County Road 15. After 5 1/2 miles, turn right on 233rd Av. The start is at a horse trailer parking lot about 1 1/2 miles down the road on the left (north) side. An alternate start location is sometimes used; to reach it, go past the horse trailer lot and turn left on a gravel forest road.
